V.P. Carswell Elementary School, a school on the move: Lighthouse Program. This program celebrates schools that are making a significant difference and sustained progress in student achievement.
V.P. Carswell Elementary is a JK-6 community school. Located in a subdivision near Canadian Forces Base Trenton, the school serves 145 students. V.P. Carswell is at the centre of the community as a welcoming meeting place for parents and is small enough that everyone knows each other. Parents value the ongoing communication they share with staff and a clear sense of belonging. The school is strongly supported by district leadership and resource staff as well as an active school council.
V.P. Carswell believes all children can and will learn given optimal supports and instruction. Staff approaches include teacher collaboration, parental engagement in children's learning, open communication and a positive school climate appreciating how the school's approach to student behaviour and learning always focuses on the positive. Our character education program focuses on the HPEDSB Growing with Character attributes.
Students proceed to Trenton High School for Grade 9.
